The following data is a collection of sources of translation as performed by humans. We hope it will be of as much interest to those who are seeking to locate a translator as to those who wish to offer their translation skills for reward.
When the Internet evolved from its military and then academic roots almost all the web-sites were written in American English. This position is now being eroded as more vernacular sites come on-line and more sites offer displays in several languages according to the visitor's choice. A statistic which I read, possibly in Search Engine Watch, (Jan/Feb 2003), suggested that by about 2004/5 more than one third of all web-sites would be written in non-English languages. R.H.
